Bambey receives food security cash transfers for 9,218 households
The Senegalese government has launched a food security cash transfer program to support vulnerable populations facing food shortages. In the Bambey department, 9,218 households are set to receive 135,000 FCFA each, totaling approximately 1.24 billion FCFA for the locality.
On a broader scale, the program targets 17,200 households across five priority departments: Bambey, Matam, Goudiry, Salémata, and Saréya. The total national mobilization for these areas is estimated at 2.322 billion FCFA, aiming to assist roughly 154,800 people.
Marie Angélique Mame Selbé Diouf, the Minister of Family, Social Action and Solidarity, emphasized that beneficiary selection was conducted through the National Unique Register (RNU) and socio-economic ranking to ensure transparency and equity. The initiative is designed to help families navigate the ‘lean season,’ a period when food stocks are depleted before the next harvest.
