Bağımsız Türkiye Partisi marks 25th anniversary

Lütfullah Önder, spokesperson for the Bağımsız Türkiye Partisi (BTP), issued a statement marking the 25th anniversary of the party's founding on September 25, 2001.

Önder noted that out of 168 active political parties in Turkey, only nine have survived for a quarter-century. He claimed that the other eight long-standing parties have benefited from being in power, being coalition partners, or receiving state aid. He distinguished the BTP by describing it as a party of ideas, projects, and causes, rather than a party seeking political office or state resources.
