Bamus Betawi calls for peace in Jakarta amid planned protests

The Bamus Betawi organization has issued a call for peace in Jakarta following reports of planned demonstrations on August 27, 2026. Chairman Muhammad Rifki stated that while the right to express opinions is legally protected, he urged participants, specifically those from Pati, Central Java, to avoid provocation and maintain order.

In related political discourse, MPR Socialization Body Vice Chairman Abidin Fikri emphasized that national independence must be measured by the state's ability to provide social justice and welfare for the poor. Speaking at a workshop in Tangerang, he noted that the state has a constitutional mandate to care for the impoverished.
