Baní residents report two-month sewage system collapse

Residents of the 19 de Marzo sector in Baní, Dominican Republic, are reporting a sewage system collapse that has persisted for approximately two months. The failure has resulted in strong odors and significant environmental and sanitary concerns for local families.

Community members have reported the issue multiple times to the Provincial Directorate of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA), but claim they have not received a timely response. Residents have also criticized the institution's capacity to manage sanitation needs, noting that INAPA reportedly operates with only one suction truck to serve various communities.
