Ban Ve Hydropower Plant begins flood discharge in Nghe An

The Ban Ve Hydropower Plant in Nghe An province began regulating water levels and discharging through its spillway starting at 9:00 AM on August 25. This measure is intended to ensure the safety of the reservoir and mitigate flooding for downstream areas following heavy rainfall caused by the circulation of Typhoon No. 4.

The expected discharge rate ranges from 340 m³/s to 1,200 m³/s, including water released through both the spillway and power generation units. This volume may fluctuate depending on the incoming flood flow. Reports indicated that inflow to the reservoir had reached levels between 2,047 m³/s and 2,259 m³/s due to recent heavy rains.

The Civil Defense Command of Nghe An Province has instructed local authorities and functional agencies in downstream areas to closely monitor the situation and coordinate response efforts. Residents in downstream regions, particularly near rivers and streams, are advised to stay updated on flood developments and take precautions against potential deep flooding, flash floods, and landslides.
