Bananeiras hosts Caminhos do Frio cultural circuit anniversary
The Bananeiras stage of the Caminhos do Frio cultural circuit is taking place from August 19 to August 23, marking the 20th anniversary of the itinerant event. The eighth stage of the circuit features a free program including music, performing arts, craft fairs, and local gastronomy, with a specific focus on coffee, cachaça, and wine.
Musical performances scheduled for the weekend include artists such as Maneva, Hungria, Wilson Sideral, and Biquíni Cavadão. The official opening ceremony was held at the courtyard of the Nossa Senhora do Livramento Matriz Church, featuring the “Trem da Cultura Popular” dance group and tributes to the circuit's two decades of history.
The event also highlights the region's economic and historical ties to coffee, cachaça, and wine. While coffee production saw a decline in the early 20th century, recent studies by the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) suggest favorable conditions for its resurgence through rural tourism. Additionally, local producers are expanding into grape cultivation and wine production, integrating these elements into the historical and architectural tourism of Bananeiras.
