Banca di Asti restructuring sparks inquiry in Asti

Councilors in Asti have filed an inquiry seeking clarification from the mayor regarding restructuring plans at Banca di Asti. The proposed plan involves 165 early retirements, while only 40 new hires are anticipated.

In addition to the early retirement program, the bank has reportedly merged 20 branches since September. The inquiry also highlights that 50 ordinary retirements occurred during 2026. Local councilors have raised concerns regarding the mayor's dual role as the city's leader and the president of the bank, questioning his commitment to the personnel turnover requested by labor unions.
