Banca Generali launches Pmi2Change to support Italian SMEs

Banca Generali has launched the Pmi2Change project to address the capital gap facing Italian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In Italy, the value of non-listed SMEs reached approximately 1.8 trillion euros by the end of 2025, significantly exceeding the 1.2 trillion euros held by listed companies. This trend contrasts with other major European economies like Germany, France, and Spain, where listed companies hold higher valuations.

To improve liquidity and visibility, Banca Generali and Intermonte have developed the Intermonte Valore Italia index. This index tracks 100 listed companies with market capitalizations below 1 billion euros, excluding those in the Ftse Mib. The selection process utilizes specific liquidity and balance sheet parameters, including minimum float, analyst coverage, defined governance, and sustainable debt levels. The included companies operate across various sectors, including technology, mechanics, energy, health, and consumer goods.

Additionally, the bank's private banking division continues to manage significant wealth, with specialized teams in regions like Umbria managing portfolios exceeding 190 million euros through coordinated financial planning and diversification strategies.
