Banca Monte Pruno President defends role of Cooperative Credit Banks
Michele Albanese, President of Banca Monte Pruno, has emphasized the continued necessity of Cooperative Credit Banks (BCC) in a rapidly evolving banking system. He noted that while economic indicators show some encouragement, there is a significant disparity in credit access.
In the Campania region, the economy grew by 0.9% in 2025, exceeding both the national and Mezzogiorno averages. However, Albanese pointed out that while credit to medium and large enterprises has increased, credit to small businesses—which form the backbone of the local economy—has continued to decline. He argued that BCCs play a vital role in supporting small and medium enterprises, artisans, farmers, and family businesses that sustain local employment and community services.
