Bancamiga completes second edition of literacy program in Caracas
Bancamiga and the MFM Reading Foundation have concluded the second edition of ‘La Imagen y La Palabra’, a creative literacy program targeting students in vulnerable areas of Caracas, Venezuela. The initiative involved more than 150 fifth-grade students from five educational institutions, including Colegio Don Pedro, U.E. Madre Cabrini, U.E.P. María Auxiliadora, Colegio Arcángel San Miguel, and Colegio Padre José María Vélaz.
The program aims to foster expression, imagination, and critical thinking, serving as a countermeasure to the cognitive effects of the digital era. During the closing ceremony, participants presented books that compile their literary works and illustrations created during the 2025 and 2026 editions. The project was coordinated by art curator Lorena González Inneco and supported by various Venezuelan intellectuals and artists.
Other regional cultural activities include the ‘Literatura con tinta de mujer II’ fair in Argentina, the ‘Ruta de Bibliotecas ASU 2026’ literary tour in Paraguay, and the 4th edition of the Independent Film Festival in Valencia, Venezuela.
