Italy celebrates 30th anniversary of National Food Collection

The 30th National Food Collection, organized by the Fondazione Banco Alimentare ETS, is scheduled for November 14 across 12,000 supermarkets in Italy. The initiative, themed “Gestures that build peace,” aims to support over 1.7 million people facing poverty or fragility.

Over 160,000 volunteers will participate in the nationwide event, which coincides with the World Day of the Poor. Citizens are encouraged to donate non-perishable goods such as oil, legumes, canned vegetables, tomato preserves, tuna, rice, and breakfast products. Donations can also be made online through dedicated platforms.

The collected food will be distributed via a network of more than 7,500 partner organizations, including soup kitchens, family homes, and community centers. In Sicily, the network already supports over 322,000 people through 834 partner structures.
