Banco Alimentare launches 30th National Food Collection
The Banco Alimentare is preparing for its 30th National Food Collection, scheduled for November 14. Under the theme “Gestures that build peace,” the initiative will involve over 160,000 volunteers across 12,000 supermarkets throughout Italy.
Donors are encouraged to provide non-perishable goods, including oil, legumes, canned vegetables, tomato preserves, tuna, rice, and breakfast products. Starting November 2, participation is also possible through online grocery donations. The event coincides with the 10th World Day of the Poor on November 15.
In Sicily, the Banco Alimentare network supports 322,121 people through 834 partner organizations. In the province of Syracuse specifically, the network assists nearly 15,000 people by distributing 70 tons of food monthly. Similar presentations for the national event have taken place in cities such as Messina.
