Banco Bci and Red de Alimentos mobilize aid for storm‑hit Chile
Banco Bci joined the “Actuemos en Red frente a la Emergencia” campaign launched by the Red de Alimentos corporation to collect humanitarian aid for the regions most affected by a series of severe storms across Chile. The partnership focuses on the Coquimbo Region, declared a disaster zone, and also targets the Metropolitan, Valparaíso, Biobío and La Araucanía regions. Donation portals were opened on both organisations' websites and electronic transfers were enabled to support the distribution of food and hygiene products to displaced families.
In parallel, Banco Bci introduced a financial relief package for individuals and small‑medium enterprises damaged by the floods. Eligible consumers with up‑to‑date credit lines or less than 30 days of arrears can receive up to six months of payment grace and refinancing options of up to 96 installments. Mortgage borrowers directly affected by inundations may defer payments for three to six months. The bank emphasised the need for rapid, concrete responses to mitigate the economic impact on households and communities.
