Banco BHD promotes AI adoption for MSMEs in Washington

Banco BHD hosted a conference in Washington, D.C., focused on the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing the productivity, competitiveness, and growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The event, titled ‘AI for MSMEs: Boosting Productivity, Competitiveness, and Growth’, was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) as part of the 34th edition of Dominican Week in the United States.

Held at the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS), the conference included participation from government officials, business leaders, and international organizations. Key speakers included Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, Minister of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs; Linda Eddleman, CEO of The Trust for the Americas; and Jordan Crenshaw, Senior Vice President of C_TEC at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Steven Puig, President of Banco BHD, emphasized that AI is transitioning from a competitive advantage to an essential capability. He noted that 54% of MSMEs in the region already utilize artificial intelligence and argued that accelerating responsible adoption is crucial for economic growth and job creation. Banco BHD currently serves more than 155,000 Dominican MSMEs.
