Banco BHD recognized for breastfeeding support initiatives
The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Public Health and the National Breastfeeding Commission have recognized Banco BHD for its commitment to promoting and protecting breastfeeding and the rights of working mothers.
During an event led by Minister of Public Health Víctor Atallah, the bank received a renewal of its certification through 2026 for its lactation rooms, designated as ‘Salas Amigas de la Familia Lactante en el Entorno Laboral’ (Lactating Family Friendly Rooms in the Workplace). The certification follows a re-evaluation process ensuring compliance with technical standards and health laws No. 42-01 and No. 8-95.
Banco BHD, the first private company in the Dominican Republic to hold this certification, integrates these efforts into its ‘Estrategia de Género Mujer’ (Women’s Gender Strategy). This initiative includes the ‘Mamá Radiante’ program, which provides support during pregnancy, maternity, and the return to work. The bank recently expanded its facilities with new lactation rooms at its Núñez de Cáceres complex and in Iberoamérica Park.
