Banco de Alimentos, IAP opens new facilities in Mazatlán
The Banco de Alimentos, IAP has inaugurated new, larger facilities in Parque Bonfil, Mazatlán, to expand its capacity to combat food insecurity and poverty in southern Sinaloa. The new location allows the organization to serve more than 10,000 people across the municipalities of San Ignacio, Mazatlán, Concordia, El Rosario, and Escuinapa.
Rafael Domínguez Kelly, president of the Mazatlán Food Bank board, stated that the expansion was necessary because the previous location was too limited to address the growing needs of the region. The acquisition of the property was supported by the Fundación Carlos Slim through a loan-for-use agreement.
Arturo Elías Ayub, representing the Fundación Carlos Slim, noted that the foundation aims to address food insecurity for more than 7 million people in Mexico.
