The Banco de México (Banxico) reported temporary delays and intermittency in the Interbank Electronic Payment System (SPEI) due to emergency maintenance on its primary technological infrastructure. The issues occurred on Saturday, October 17, with reports of service disruptions peaking in the afternoon.

Users across various financial institutions, including Banamex, Scotiabank, HSBC, Santander, BBVA, and Banorte, reported difficulties with sending and receiving transfers. Some customers experienced delays ranging from 45 minutes to as long as four hours. Common issues included transactions remaining in a 'pending' status or error messages during transfer attempts.

Banamex confirmed the delays but stated that the situation does not compromise the security of client funds. Similarly, Banxico indicated that funds are safe and that pending operations will be processed gradually as maintenance concludes. Other banks, such as BBVA and Banorte, advised customers that interbank transfers may take between 24 and 48 business hours to reflect in accounts and recommended against attempting duplicate transactions.
