Banco del Bienestar savings options and credit reporting

Banco del Bienestar offers various voluntary savings products, though funds received through social programs such as pensions and scholarships do not automatically generate interest. To earn returns, users must opt for specific products like the 'Debicuenta con intereses' or 'Tandahorro,' which can reach annual rates of up to 0.88% and 0.63% respectively, according to institutional data for August 2026.

The 'Debicuenta con intereses' requires a minimum opening balance of 50 pesos. For example, maintaining a 20,000 peso balance for a full year at a 0.88% rate would yield approximately 176 pesos, provided the balance remains consistent and meets the necessary monthly average requirements.

Additionally, the Banco del Bienestar debit card, used by millions to receive government support, does not report to the Buró de Crédito. Because the card is a debit product intended for receiving social resources rather than a financing tool, it does not contribute to building a credit history. Credit records are only established when individuals apply for and manage credit products, such as personal or credit cards.
