Brazil regulators investigate Banco do Brasil executives and Banco Master former owner

The Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) has launched a sanctioning process against Banco do Brasil president Tarciana Medeiros and Vice President of Investor Relations Marco Geovanne Tobias. The investigation targets potential violations of Resolution 80, following statements made during the second quarter 2025 results presentation where Medeiros advised investors to ‘maintain’ or ‘buy’ the bank’s shares. The CVM characterizes these remarks as ‘excessively positive’ and potentially misleading. Banco do Brasil maintains that the comments should be viewed within their full context and were based on public information.

Separately, federal investigations into former Banco Master owner Daniel Vorcaro are intensifying. Vorcaro, currently detained, is facing scrutiny regarding alleged financial frauds, money laundering, and corruption. The Federal Police are investigating a suspected scheme involving the use of social media profiles to influence the Central Bank and potential illicit operations involving R$ 12 billion in credit letters. Vorcaro’s defense is seeking to postpone upcoming depositions and is attempting to negotiate a plea bargain with authorities. Additionally, the CVM has scheduled a trial for September 8 regarding alleged capital market frauds linked to Banco Master.
