Banco Master case: Vorcaro messages implicate judicial figures

Messages extracted from the phone of Daniel Vorcaro, former owner of Banco Master, have triggered investigations involving high-ranking Brazilian judicial figures. The communications mention the children of Supreme Federal Court (STF) ministers Luiz Fux and Kassio Nunes Marques.

In one dialogue, legal director Luiz Rennó allegedly discussed monthly payments of R$ 500,000 to lawyer Kevin de Carvalho Marques, son of Minister Marques. Kevin Marques has denied working for Vorcaro or receiving direct payments from the banker, though he acknowledged receiving R$ 281,600 from a tax intelligence firm for services rendered. Additionally, messages show Rodrigo Fux, son of Minister Luiz Fux, had contact with Vorcaro, including discussions regarding legal assistance and social invitations.

The controversy has also reached the Federal Public Ministry (MPF). The Superior Council of the MPF has scheduled a discussion for September 25 to evaluate the situation of Prosecutor General Paulo Gonet. Vorcaro’s messages reportedly included references to Gonet and Federal Police Director-General Andrei Rodrigues in the context of the Compliance Zero Operation. Gonet has denied any personal friendship or interest in Vorcaro’s legal processes, stating he only met the banker once briefly at a legal event in London.
