Banco Master owner Daniel Vorcaro transferred to common cell
Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, has been transferred from a special state-room detention to a common cell at the Federal Police superintendency in Brasília. The transfer was ordered by Supreme Federal Court Justice André Mendonça following Vorcaro's submission of a plea bargain proposal to the Federal Police and the Prosecutor General's Office.
Vorcaro is a central figure in ‘Operation Compliance Zero,’ an investigation into massive financial fraud within Banco Master that may involve irregularities in asset management and suspicious negotiations regarding the purchase of BRB. The investigation explores potential financial discrepancies reaching up to 60 billion reais.
Under the new detention regime, Vorcaro faces stricter rules, including more limited access for legal counsel. To prevent potential collusion, court orders mandate that he avoid contact with other inmates, specifically Paulo Henrique Costa, the former president of BRB. While in custody, Vorcaro has reportedly lost weight and adheres to a routine of reading religious texts and performing physical exercises.
