Dominican business leaders call for AI regulation at Impulsa Forum

During the eleventh edition of the Impulsa Business Forum in Santo Domingo, Dominican business leaders issued a call for urgent regulation of artificial intelligence. The event, themed “Humanism in the digital age,” brought together 800 entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals to discuss the impact of exponential technologies on productivity and business models.

Prominent business figures, including representatives from Grupo Rica, Banco BHD, Grupo Corripio, and Grupo Humano, emphasized that while AI can drive economic growth, it requires ethical oversight and human supervision to prevent algorithmic bias. A study by the International Academy of Innovation and Technology (AIITEC) revealed that 66% of companies currently lack internal policies for AI use, and 85% of executives demand national legislation to govern the technology.

To address these challenges, participants signed the “First Manifesto for Human-Centered AI,” which promotes ethics, transparency, and human control over critical decisions. The forum featured international experts from institutions such as Stanford University, Columbia University, and SingularityU, focusing on how leadership and human creativity remain essential differentiators in an increasingly automated landscape.
