Banco Popular Dominicano earns safety award and donates renovated emergency communications hall
The Dominican Republic's Ministry of Labor recertified Banco Popular Dominicano and its subsidiaries for outstanding occupational safety and health management. The award was presented in a ceremony attended by President Luis Abinader, Labor Minister Eddy Olivares Ortega, and bank officials María Badía and José Luis Guzmán Peña, highlighting the bank’s decade‑long commitment to preventive culture and continuous compliance with Regulation 522‑06.
Separately, Banco Popular donated a refurbished Political/Communications Salon to the Centre of Emergency Operations (COE). Executives Christopher Paniagua and COE director Juan Manuel Méndez García described the space as essential for inter‑institutional coordination, press briefings and public alerts. Méndez García said, "This renovation represents much more than a physical transformation of a hall; it strengthens the venue from which we coordinate, inform and make decisions to protect lives." The contribution aims to improve the country’s disaster‑response capacity.
