Dominican Republic and Argentina implement economic relief and modernization programs

In the Dominican Republic, President Luis Abinader has launched the National Mechanization Program (PRONAMEC) with an investment exceeding RD$200 million. The initiative aims to modernize the agricultural sector by introducing machinery and technology to reduce costs, increase productivity, and decrease reliance on foreign labor. Additionally, the government has expanded the ‘Tu Firma es Tu Garantía’ program through Promipyme, recently delivering RD$85 million in credits to 400 micro-entrepreneurs to facilitate access to formal financing without the need for a co-signer.

In Argentina, Banco Provincia reported that over 100,000 clients have refinanced debts in 2026 through its financial regularization program, totaling over $390 billion pesos. The bank noted that 96% of these operations involve individuals, citing macroeconomic challenges and declining incomes as primary drivers of rising delinquency. Meanwhile, rising household debt levels have prompted legislative discussions in Congress regarding new protections for financial users and measures to prevent over-indebtedness, particularly among younger populations using digital wallets.
