Banco Provincia's Cuenta DNI rolls out Father's Day discounts amid surge in online scams in Argentina

Banco Provincia's virtual wallet, Cuenta DNI, launched a limited‑time Father's Day promotion for its more than 10 million users. Discounts of up to 30 % and interest‑free installments in four cuotas are offered at participating merchants, including perfumerías, farmacias, ópticas, librerías de texto and a range of local shops. Specific deals include 20 % off at nearby carnicerías, 40 % off at market stalls and universities, and 25 % off at selected restaurants on weekends. The offers run until the end of June and are capped by weekly or monthly spending limits.

At the same time, authorities warn that online fraud linked to holiday shopping has surged. Reports show a 400 % rise in online attacks, a 70 % increase in digital crime, and phishing reaching its highest level in three years. Seventy percent of scams originate from mobile devices, with a 680 % jump in fraudulent app transactions. Consumers are advised to shop from secure devices, avoid public Wi‑Fi, verify seller information, use two‑factor authentication, and monitor bank statements to protect against scams.
