Banco Sabadell restructures organization, adds AI unit and names new private banking chief

Banco Sabadell announced a comprehensive reorganisation aimed at accelerating its digital transformation. The new structure, effective 1 September, creates a dedicated Artificial Intelligence area within the corporate transformation division, led by Robert Duran, and reinforces the bank’s strategy of leveraging technology to improve client services. The change follows CEO Marc Armengol’s presentation of the latest results and his focus on modernising the bank after the sale of its UK subsidiary and a hostile takeover bid by BBVA.

In a related move, the bank appointed Adela Martín as director of its private banking division. Martín, an experienced wealth‑management professional, is tasked with strengthening Sabadell’s offering to high‑net‑worth clients, a segment that accounts for a major growth driver in the Spanish market of over €600 billion in assets. The appointments reflect Sabadell’s push to expand high‑value services while continuing its investment in technology and organisational efficiency.
