Banco Santander accelerates US integration and synergy targets
Banco Santander is accelerating its strategic integration of US-based entities, including Webster and TSB, aiming to capture approximately 1.2 billion euros in synergies by 2028 rather than the originally projected 2029.
Through an internal initiative dubbed ‘Project Unity’, the bank seeks to unify technologies, reduce costs, and improve efficiency across its American operations. This plan aims to generate an additional 150 million dollars in annual profits. The strategy leverages the recent launch of Openbank to scale retail banking and utilizes the liquidity from the Webster acquisition to reduce financing costs.
In addition to these operational shifts, Santander is hosting the XIX International Banking Conference in Madrid. The event features global leaders, including IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and Spanish government officials, to discuss economic growth, geopolitics, and technological transformation.
