Banco Santander hires former El Corte Inglés CEO Santiago Bau
Banco Santander has appointed Santiago Bau, the former CEO of El Corte Inglés, to a key leadership role within its Technology and Operations (T&O) division. Bau is set to join the financial institution this November.
In his new capacity, Bau will lead strategy, finance, and vendor management for the T&O area. His responsibilities include executing the division's strategic roadmap, managing budget planning, procurement, and financial control. He will report to Juan Olaizola, Santander’s Chief Operating and Technology Officer, who in turn reports to Executive Chair Ana Botín.
Bau brings extensive financial and management experience to the role. Prior to his tenure at El Corte Inglés, where he served as General Manager and Corporate and Financial Director, he spent nearly two decades at Goldman Sachs, eventually rising to the position of Managing Director.
