Banco Santander wins CNMV contract and receives upgraded price target
Banco Santander has secured a significant contract to serve as the exclusive provider of banking, investment, and insurance services for Spain’s National Securities Market Commission (CNMV). The contract, valued at up to 2.2 million euros, ends a 33-year period during which these services were provided by BBVA. Santander’s bid was the only one to meet all tender requirements, including maintaining investment-grade credit ratings from agencies such as Standard & Poor’s and Fitch.
Separately, financial analysts have issued positive outlooks for the bank. Mediobanca has raised its price target for Santander to 16 euros per share, representing a 27% potential increase from current levels. This target is notably higher than the market consensus reported by Reuters, which places the average target at 13.32 euros. Mediobanca maintains an ‘overweight’ recommendation, suggesting the stock is expected to outperform the European financial sector.
