Banda Aceh Mayor calls for targeted policies to drive Aceh development

Banda Aceh Mayor Illiza Sa'aduddin Djamal stated that Aceh requires appropriate policies and approaches to navigate regional dynamics. She noted that administrative and regulatory issues, such as the Qanun regarding the Aceh Flag and Emblem, should no longer serve as primary obstacles to accelerating regional development.

While Qanun Number 3 of 2013 regulates the flag and emblem, its implementation remains a subject of discussion between the Aceh provincial government and the central government. Illiza emphasized that the current focus must shift toward ensuring stable governance and equitable economic distribution. She advocated for a community-based participation approach to ensure residents feel involved in development, citing examples in Banda Aceh where citizens actively contribute land for spatial planning and settlement improvements.
