Banda hostel deaths: Two students die after eating momos

Two students, aged 8 and 12, died after falling ill following the consumption of momos at a private residential hostel in the Banda district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred at the BL Vidya Mandir hostel in Jheel Ka Purwa.

According to reports, the children experienced severe stomach pain in the early hours of Monday, August 17, after eating the food items with chutney. The victims, identified as 12-year-old Nitin and 8-year-old Arun Kumar, were rushed to medical facilities but were declared dead upon arrival. A third student, 8-year-old Chandrapal, was hospitalized for treatment.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the deaths, with preliminary suspicions pointing toward food poisoning. Police and administration officials are also looking into the status of the hostel, which has been described as an unregistered facility. Autopsy reports are expected to provide the definitive cause of death.
