Bandai unveils Tamagotchi Ring for 30th anniversary

At the Tokyo Toy Show 2026, Bandai unveiled the Tamagotchi Ring, a wearable device marking the 30th anniversary of the virtual pet franchise. The ring is the smallest Tamagotchi ever produced, measuring approximately 28mm in length—about 56% of the size of the original 1996 model.

Despite its miniature scale, the device features a 0.56-inch color LCD and allows users to raise 30 different characters from the brand's history. To achieve this level of miniaturization, engineers spent two years redesigning the hardware, resulting in a device with only 64 parts, the lowest component count for any color LCD Tamagotchi.

Unlike previous models that used replaceable batteries, the Tamagotchi Ring utilizes a built-in rechargeable battery and comes with a dedicated charging case. The device is available in three colorways: Pink & Pearl White, Blue & Metallic Gold, and Black & Metallic Silver. Pre-orders have opened via Premium Bandai in Japan, with shipping expected to begin in February 2027.

In addition to the ring, Bandai showcased other products at the event, including the 'Kamen Rider Mys' toy line featuring a unique belt designed to be worn on either the chest or the waist, and 'Toshi Banzuke,' a family board game focused on financial literacy and investment concepts.
