Bandai launches Tamagotchi 30th anniversary festival in Tokyo

Bandai has launched the “Super Tamagotchi Festival” in the Harajuku and Shibuya districts of Tokyo to celebrate the brand’s 30th anniversary. The event, which runs from November 7 to December 6, features a unique theme centered on a fictional discovery that the brand may actually be 3,000 years old.

This concept, titled the “3,000th Anniversary? Great Excavation Project,” stems from the discovery of a mysterious stone monument during the setup of the TOKYO Toy Show. The main venue at Tokyu Plaza Harajuku “Harakado” features various “excavated” artifacts, including a golden statue of the character Mametchi and a Kuchipatchi sculpture inspired by the “mouth of truth.”

The festivities include a stamp rally across various apparel, cosmetic, and cafe locations in the Harajuku and Shibuya areas, offering limited edition merchandise and researcher IDs to participants. Additionally, the event showcases the history of Tamagotchi devices and introduces new products, such as “Tamagotchi Paradise – Neon Planets.”
