Japanese entertainment firms announce new anime and gaming releases

Bandai Namco Filmworks and other Japanese entertainment companies have announced several upcoming product releases for popular anime and gaming franchises.

In the anime sector, the Blu-ray BOX for ‘Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance’ is scheduled for release on August 26, 2026. This collection includes the six-episode original animation, an original soundtrack CD, and a special booklet. Additionally, the ‘Fushigi Yuugi Blu-ray BOX’ will be released on the same date via A-on STORE to commemorate the 30th anniversary of its TV broadcast. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Pierrot magical girl series, the ‘Magical Emi 40th Anniversary Blu-ray BOX’ is also set for an August 26, 2026, release.

In gaming, Square Enix announced new merchandise for ‘Final Fantasy VII Rebirth,’ including a Tifa Lockhart swimsuit figure and a Sephiroth PLAY ARTS Kai figure, both arriving on November 28. Bandai Namco Entertainment will update ‘Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2’ on August 27, 2026, adding the ‘Gundam DX’ unit to the game. Furthermore, Bandai will release unique Zaku II ceramic bowls as prize items starting September 17.
