Bandec provides financing for energy matrix transition in Cuba
The Banco de Crédito y Comercio (Bandec) in Villa Clara, Cuba, is providing financing to state and non-state entities to facilitate a transition in their energy matrices. Since 2025, the bank has been offering credits to companies, MSMEs (mipymes), self-employed workers, and local development projects with social impact.
To date, the bank has financed approximately 70 clients for a total exceeding 2.3 billion pesos. Beneficiaries include various engineering, meat, and agricultural companies, as well as construction and tourism entities. Some of these businesses have already disconnected from the National Electro-Energy System and have begun contributing surplus energy back to the grid. To encourage this transition, the bank offers a 3% interest rate discount on these specific loans.
