Bandidos gang raids in Canberra lead to major drug and cash seizures

Police in Canberra have conducted raids targeting alleged members of the Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang, resulting in the seizure of approximately $425,000 in cash, 5.5 kg of cocaine, and a 9 mm Glock pistol. Two men, 36-year-old Adam Ha and 31-year-old Domenico Luca Costanzo, appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court following the operation.

Prosecutors allege that Mr. Ha has been present at Bandidos events since the gang established itself in the capital earlier this year. Defense counsel for Mr. Ha argued that the connection to the gang is speculative, noting that no gang insignia or motorcycles were found during the search.

The crackdown comes amid concerns regarding the rising presence of outlaw motorcycle gangs in the Australian Capital Territory. Recent data indicates that ACT taxpayers have spent over $628,000 in the last two years to monitor gang activities. In response to the perceived legislative vacuum, the ACT government has announced plans to draft legislation banning the public display of outlaw motorcycle gang insignia.
