The 10th Yeşilçomlu Melon Festival was held in Bandırma to promote agricultural production and celebrate the local melon, which has recently received a Geographical Indication certification. The event featured a parade, a flag ceremony, and a traditional melon harvest in the fields.
In the festival's melon competition, 15-year-old producer Efe Karaçivi took first place with 124 points. Other winners included Ahmet Kavanoz in second place, and Zeki Şen and Eymen Kavanoz, who tied for third.
The festival also integrated art and gastronomy, featuring the ‘Kuşlarımız Ahşapta’ relief exhibition by artist Feyim Kayalık and a ‘Bostandan Sahneye’ culinary show. Bandırma Mayor Dursun Mirza emphasized the importance of protecting ancestral seeds and passing agricultural traditions to future generations.
