Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University secures 15 projects for COP31
Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University has secured a place for 15 of its scientific projects in the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Pavilion at COP31. These projects focus on combating climate change and promoting sustainable development across various disciplines, including biotechnology, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and green maritime technologies.
Key research areas include the protection of the Marmara Sea, monitoring marine ecosystems, and developing hydrogen technologies. Other accepted studies involve using machine learning for detecting respiratory diseases, developing climate-resilient asphalt mixtures, and studying the cryostabilization of freeze-dried yogurt.
In a related discussion on regional environmental impacts, Professor Metehan Yilgör warned that climate change will inevitably lead to reduced water resources in the Bandırma region, affecting agricultural irrigation and the biodiversity of Manyas Lake. He also noted the decline of olive groves in Edincik and Erdek due to urban development and emphasized the need for alternative agricultural products in the South Marmara region.
