Bandung Barat investigates suspected Cihaur River pollution

The Bandung Barat Regency Environmental Agency (DLH) is deploying a team to investigate suspected pollution in the Cihaur River in Padalarang District. The investigation follows reports that the river water has changed to a red color, is covered in foam, and emits a pungent odor.

Local observations indicate that a large underground discharge pipe is flowing red liquid directly into the river. Residents have reported that the liquid is occasionally hot enough to produce visible steam. The pollution has raised concerns regarding the local ecosystem and community activities, as fish populations are reportedly declining and farmers are worried about using the water for irrigation.

Agency officials stated that the findings from the environmental protection and management team will serve as the basis for local government actions against any parties found responsible for the pollution.
