Bandung celebrates 216th anniversary with focus on urban collaboration

The 216th anniversary of Bandung, themed ‘Solidarity in Harmony,’ has prompted calls for increased collaboration between the Bandung City Government and the West Java Provincial Government to address urban challenges. Mayor Muhammad Farhan emphasized that the theme reflects a commitment to tolerance and collective action to meet the city's needs.

Key areas for inter-governmental cooperation include waste management and transportation within the Bandung Basin. Specifically, the development of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system is being highlighted as a vital solution for mobility, requiring coordinated efforts across Bandung, Cimahi, and the regencies of Bandung, West Bandung, and Sumedang. West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan reaffirmed the province's readiness to support infrastructure and development projects in the city.

In addition to policy discussions, the anniversary celebrations included the ‘Pesona Nusantara’ cultural parade in the Andir district. The event showcased Indonesia's diverse cultural heritage through traditional clothing parades and supported local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through dedicated exhibitions.
