Bandung City Boosts Safety with Loudspeaker CCTV and Starts Green Space Initiative
The Bandung municipal government has re‑activated CCTV cameras fitted with loudspeakers at several high‑risk locations. The system is linked to the Bandung Command Center, managed by the city's Transportation and Information Technology departments, and enables officers to issue real‑time warnings to the public and suspect individuals. Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the measure follows coordination with the national police, military and the regional coordination forum to address a rise in street crime.
In parallel, the city launched the "Rindu Rindang" public‑space and green‑area rehabilitation program, planting the first trees in RW 09, Pasirwangi. The mayor highlighted the initiative as a long‑term investment to improve groundwater availability and strengthen resilience against climate‑related hazards. The program aims to raise Bandung's green‑open‑space ratio, currently below 15%, through community involvement and protection of existing vegetation.
