Bandung Seals Videotron After Illegal Tree Cutting at Padel Six Nine

The Bandung municipal government ordered the sealing of a videotron installed at Padel Club Six Nine on Jalan RE Martadinata after discovering that the screen lacked a valid advertising permit. The action follows an investigation that linked the videotron to the illegal felling of ten shade trees in front of the padel facility. Satpol PP officials, led by Chief Bambang Sukardi, sealed the videotron and imposed administrative penalties, requiring the planting of 100 replacement trees and a forced fine of Rp100 million, which the responsible party has paid.

Mayor Muhammad Farhan has directed the city secretary and the internal inspectorate to probe possible involvement of civil servants (ASN) in the tree‑cutting operation. The investigation also identified a subcontractor that carried out landscaping work as a potential perpetrator. The Bandung City Council (DPRD) has called for criminal prosecution and civil lawsuits against the corporate owners and beneficial owners behind the project, urging a thorough legal response to deter similar violations.

The municipal authorities emphasize that the padel club’s business operations remain permitted, and the sealing applies solely to the unauthorized videotron. Ongoing inquiries aim to determine whether additional parties were complicit in the environmental breach.
