Bandung woman YTR kidnapped and abused; police hunt suspect Taufik Hidayat

A woman identified as YTR, 29, was missing for about three years before being found in critical condition at Rumah Sakit Hasan Sadikin in Bandung. She suffered severe injuries, including blindness, facial damage, loss of speech and inability to walk.

The alleged perpetrator, her boyfriend identified as Taufik Hidayat (TH), is at large. Police from Polda Jawa Barat continue to search for him after he evaded several attempted arrests. Governor Dedi Mulyadi announced a bounty of Rp250 million for information leading to TH's capture.

Family members reported that TH also drained YTR’s assets, selling motorbikes, electronics, savings and using a PayLater account. A legal team from Hotman 911 has offered free representation to the victim. DPR member Ahmad Sahroni urged the police to press the maximum penalties and posted a viral call for the public to help locate TH. Activist Melanie Subono asked people to share the suspect’s photo while urging them not to take law into their own hands.

YTR herself said she could not flee because her vision was impaired by the abuse. The case has drawn national attention to gender‑based violence and police response in Indonesia.
