Bandung illegal tree cutting sparks calls for strict enforcement

Deputy Speaker of the MPR RI, Eddy Soeparno, has called for strict government action regarding the suspected illegal cutting of trees on Jalan LLRE Martadinata in Bandung. The tree removal is allegedly linked to commercial interests, specifically the construction of a padel facility equipped with a videotron.

Soeparno emphasized that environmental protection should not be sacrificed for land commercialization. He urged for rapid and firm legal enforcement to create a deterrent effect, suggesting that such issues should be addressed not only in Bandung but across Indonesia. He also encouraged stronger tree protection measures within the ongoing revision of the Environmental Law in the DPR.
