Bandung Mayor Hands Over Jalan Cihampelas to West Java for Demolition

Bandung’s mayor Muhammad Farhan signed a regional asset grant agreement transferring ownership of the Jalan Cihampelas pedestrian overpass, known as Teras Cihampelas, to the West Java provincial government. The handover, formalised on 30 July 2026, includes the road land, construction, and all associated infrastructure.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi confirmed that the province will begin an open‑tender process to demolish the overpass and redevelop the corridor. The move aims to restore safety, improve the visitor experience and revive the area's creative‑industry and fashion economy that originally expanded under former mayor Ridwan Kamil’s administration.
