Bandung Mayor Orders Probe of Illegal Tree Cutting Near Padel Court

The Bandung municipal police (Satpol PP) sealed a site on Jalan Riau after discovering the illegal felling of about ten trees that were adjacent to a newly built padel court. Head of Satpol PP Bambang Sukardi said the authorities will summon the padel facility’s owner for questioning and that the act may violate Indonesia’s environmental law.

Mayor Farhan Muhammad has publicly condemned the tree removal, describing it as more than a routine violation. The city government has launched an investigation into possible business interests behind the cutting, linking it to a building and videotron located behind the site. Officials plan to review the sidewalk layout on Jalan Riau as part of the broader inquiry.
