Bandung Mayor proposes sharia capital market funding for Masjid Agung Bandung

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that the Masjid Agung Bandung is a 100 percent endowment (wakaf) asset and a vital religious heritage for the community. He emphasized that the mosque's sustainability and prosperity should be driven by the local Muslim community rather than being solely dependent on the government.

To support this, the Bandung City Government and Baznas are exploring opportunities to collect community funds through sharia capital market instruments. This initiative, inspired by the management of the Istiqlal Mosque, aims to utilize the Indonesia Stock Exchange to channel sharia financial investment products to mosques that are fully endowed.
