Bandung Mayor pushes for cyclist and disability-friendly infrastructure
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan has expressed the city government's commitment to developing urban infrastructure that is safe and accessible for all citizens, specifically targeting cyclists, pedestrians, and people with disabilities.
Speaking at the 'Gerakan Nyapedah Nyakola' event, Farhan noted that while providing roads for motorized vehicles is a basic requirement, the priority must extend to more vulnerable road users. He emphasized that the city is open to public criticism to improve these facilities.
Despite these goals, local residents have reported ongoing challenges, including traffic congestion and the unauthorized use of designated bicycle lanes for parking. The city is also preparing to host the National Folding Bike Jamboree in December to promote Bandung as a cyclist-friendly destination.
