Taufik Hidayat arrested for kidnapping and abusing Yuvita Tri Rezeki in Bandung

Police in West Java arrested 30‑year‑old Taufik Hidayat after a joint operation captured him in a house in Ciparay, Bandung, ending a three‑year period of kidnapping and brutal abuse of his girlfriend, Yuvita Tri Rezeki (29). The victim was held in four different rented rooms in Bandung between May 2024 and June 2026, where she was repeatedly beaten with fists, iron, sharp objects, helmets and was forced to inhale cigarette smoke, leaving her with severe facial injuries, blindness and permanent disability. Medical treatment costs have exceeded Rp1 billion.

Governor Dedi Mulyadi had announced a Rp250 million reward (sayembara) for information leading to Hidayat’s capture. After the arrest, the governor transferred the prize to the victim’s family as a bank deposit, citing the police as the rightful “winner” of the bounty. The provincial government also pledged to cover all remaining medical expenses.

Law‑enforcement disclosed the four locations involved, and the Lembaga Perlindungan Saksi dan Korban (LPSK) placed the victim under emergency protection. Komnas Perempuan is examining whether the case meets the UN definition of torture, while a psychologist highlighted the suspect’s antisocial and possibly psychopathic traits. The case has drawn large public donations, including a Rp500 million contribution from a coal businessman, and the survivor has expressed a desire to recover and eventually start a small business.
