Banestes signs R$ 10.6 million contract with Prodest for data center services

Banestes, the public bank of Espírito Santo, has signed a contract with the state's Information and Communication Technology Institute (Prodest) to host its technology equipment at the State Data Center in Vitória.

The agreement, valued at approximately R$ 10.59 million, utilizes a colocation model where the bank maintains its own servers within the Prodest infrastructure. The contract spans five years, running from October 2026 to September 2031, with an average annual cost of roughly R$ 2.1 million. Under this arrangement, Prodest provides physical space, energy, climate control, and environmental security.

The facility features high-performance cooling, fire detection and suppression systems, and protection against vandalism and theft. To ensure near 100% availability, the data center utilizes electrical redundancy, including substations, generators, transformers, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). Prodest recently completed a retrofit of the center to modernize equipment and improve energy efficiency prior to the agreement.
